Dilshad Khan, a revered musician, proudly belongs to the illustrious Sikar Gharana of music, a lineage that has given rise to several prominent stalwarts in the realm of Indian classical music. He represents the ninth generation of his family to embrace the art of playing the Sarangi. His great-grandfather, Ustad Azim Khan Shaab, served as a distinguished court musician in Sikar, Rajasthan, a testament to the family's deep-rooted musical heritage. Dilshad commenced his formal training in music at the tender age of six, guided by the expert hands and wisdom of his grandfather, Ustad Gulab Khan Sahab, who was not only a brilliant sarangi player but also a notable vocalist of his era. Additionally, he learned from his father, Ustad Nasir Khan Sahab, a talented sitar player in his own right. As he progressed in his musical journey, Dilshad sought mentorship from his uncle, the esteemed Padma Bhushan Ustad Sultan Khan Sahab, widely recognized as one of the world's preeminent Sarangi players and vocalists. Ustad Sultan Khan Sahab has significantly elevated the Sarangi, bestowing it with new dimensions and playing a crucial role in popularizing this ancient classical instrument of India.

Notably, Dilshad collaborated with Ustad Zakir Hussain on the album Global Drum Project, which was honored with the prestigious Grammy Award in 2009. Beyond his classical roots, Dilshad Khan is also a prominent figure in the Bollywood music industry, having contributed his talent to over 500 films. His captivating Sarangi performances can be heard in hit movies such as Devdas, Namaste London, Mohabbatein, Goal, Rockstar, Faltu, Mausam, Guzaarish, Jhoom Bara Bar Jhoom, Kyunki, Red, Tere Naam, Dhobi Ghat, among numerous others. Moreover, he has showcased his artistry on stages at major music festivals and concerts across India, including the renowned Savai Gandharva in Pune, Saptak in Ahmedabad, and the Shankar Lal Music Festival in Delhi. His talent has also taken him to prestigious venues around the globe, performing in cities such as London, Japan, Korea, Singapore, Malaysia, Australia, Holland, the USA, UAE, Muscat, and Bahrain.
