Ustad Ahmed & Mohammed Hussain (Ghazal)
Born in the vibrant state of Rajasthan as the esteemed sons of the renowned ghazal and thumri singer Ustad Afzal Hussain, this talented duo seamlessly touches upon a variety of genres, including the rich traditions of Indian classical music, soulful bhajan, and the evocative nuances of ghazal. They embarked on their singing career in the year 1958, specifically as classical and thumri artists, proudly representing the illustrious Jaipur Gharana, which has long been celebrated for its deep-rooted musical heritage and artistry.
They shot to fame quite rapidly when they were prominently featured in the renowned Ghazal festival, Shamakhana, which also served as an important platform that introduced notable artists such as Talat Aziz, Pankaj Udhas, and Anup Jalota to a wider audience. Additionally, their beloved song "Ayaa Tere Dar Per Deewana" was showcased in the popular movie Veer Zara, which starred the legendary Shah Rukh Khan, further solidifying their presence in the music industry.
They have also been awarded the Padma Shri award from the government of India for excellence in music which is the nation’s 3rd highest civilian award.
